I volunteered for 2 years at Habitat For Humanity in college to help refurbish a house for a really great family. This inspired me to volunteer my time for several other ventures, including putting in about 50 hours at Three Square Food Bank. I then realized that I could put my artistic talents to use by donating several artworks as well as my design work. Here are some examples…
I donated about 3 months of my spare time to guide the students of Bonanza High School’s Theater Program to build the Audrey II puppets for their production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. It was a smash success! And the students learned a lot about puppets and puppeteering.
I donated these paintings to Circus Couture, an art auction to benefit Cure for the Kids which battles the fight against childhood cancer.
Over the course of its 4 year history, I have also donated many other random works to Circus Couture.
I donated over 80 hours of my time to create several Photoshop renderings for ‘One Night For One Drop’, an annual show to benefit One Drop, an organization focused on providing clean water for everyone.
I was a volunteer Technical Director for the painting of a 30′ x 100′ mural for Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Cirque du Monde’ program. I also painted the KÀ characters and a few of the others.
I donated 2 custom art wreaths for each of 2 years to be auctioned off at a benefit for ALS. Each took me about 10 hours and netted on average about $200 apiece to benefit ALS.
And I have donated 100’s of hours to local theater productions, including ‘Oklahoma’ at Spring Mountain Ranch, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by Nevada Theater Company, and my latest design for ‘BUG’ which was performed at the Art Square Theater and produced by Cockroach Theater Company.
